As I mentioned previously, I will individually post about my top 3 favorite companies from the FUND Conference, and why you should definitely look out for them.
VG Smartglass was an instant attraction and it burst my mind with endless ideas of possible applications. I see the vision what Mike Stacey, the co-founder sees. We literally spent hours talking about what future does this technology hold.
Imagine a world without blinds, or drapes or any other thing u need to cover glass for privacy or other reasons. You now don’t need to buy any of those things or worry about their maintenance. VG SmartGlass has an inbuilt fabricated polarized film designed to changes patterns when rotated. It is as simple as opening or closing the window by just pushing it. If that is a little too much of an effort, then the company has also come up with various prototypes to be controlled via remote or a mobile app. The following video will show precisely what my words may not express.
Impressed extensively by their work, I made a visit to their office, where I learned about other various prototypes, fixes, and future applications. Healthcare is number one as in hospitals, privacy is a major concern, and so is sterility. Blinds get dirty easily and have to be cleaned every now or then. They are even hard to manage when a nurse has to check on patients quite frequently. With VG SmartGlass you can simply wipe the glass as you would do with any other one. The other applications presently can be in schools, hotels and offices where there is much more presence of glasses on doors and windows.
The product can extensively be used in advertising and can save enormous budget on billboards and electric boards. This calls for a discussion done about the comparison between electric glass and VG SmartGlass. It is a fact without a denial that an electric glass can offer many more capabilities, however, it certainly cannot be excessively installed in every corner of a building because of the installation and electricity cost.
The vision that Mike and I discussed was that this is where the world would go if things go right. The technology will indeed spread like a fire in a forest, it only takes a strong spark to light it up. Therefore, I highly encourage you all to check out their website and the social media platforms to gain more information on how VG SmartGlass can really change the world.
